Aveng appoints Fraser Wyllie as Chief Executive Officer

Aveng Limited has announced the appointment of Fraser Wyllie as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 October 2026.

Fraser is currently Managing Director of McConnell Dowell’s New Zealand & Pacific Islands business and brings more than 30 years of experience across infrastructure, construction and engineering. He joined McConnell Dowell in 2017 following senior executive roles with several of New Zealand’s leading infrastructure businesses. His career has spanned business leadership, major project delivery, strategy, business development and governance across New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific, the United Kingdom and South East Asia.

Since joining McConnell Dowell, Fraser has led a significant turnaround of the New Zealand & Pacific Islands business, transforming it from a loss-making operation into a profitable and resilient business with a strong balance sheet and consistent project performance. His leadership has been central to this success. Known for his authenticity, pragmatism and ability to unite people behind a common purpose, Fraser has built high-performing teams, bolstered culture and created an environment where accountability and performance thrive.

Fraser’s influence extends beyond McConnell Dowell. As Chair of Infrastructure New Zealand and a Director of Horizon Energy Group, he is recognised for his strategic insight, governance capability and commitment to advancing the infrastructure sector. Throughout his career, he has successfully led business transformations, built organisational capability and navigated complex leadership challenges across a range of markets and environments. His ability to bring people together, develop future leaders and deliver sustainable outcomes has been a consistent feature of his leadership approach.

Aveng Chairman Graeme Bevans said Fraser’s appointment followed a rigorous selection process led by the Board’s Remuneration and Nomination Committee, supported by an executive search firm and involving a strong field of internal and external candidates.

Fraser is widely respected across the infrastructure sector for his leadership, integrity and ability to transform businesses while building high-performing teams and strong cultures.

A Chartered Professional Engineer, Fraser holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and a Master of Business Administration.

Fraser will continue as Managing Director of McConnell Dowell New Zealand & Pacific Islands during the transition period before formally assuming the role of Aveng CEO on 1 October 2026.
